To say my family and I needed a weekend away is a huge understatement. It had been a year since we have had any time away from home and I don’t even want to mention the last time we had a vacation. Well, the closest we’re going to get this year is some good ol’ tent camping in the beautiful mountains of Colorado.
My husband and I both grew up camping and spending a lot of time outdoors. Early in our marriage and even when I was very pregnant we carried on the tradition, until we had kids of our own. We both love the outdoors and with our oldest it was pretty easy to do a lot of outdoor activities because she has always been very laid back and happy to go with the flow. Our youngest is absolutely neither of those things, but we decided we were going to put her to the test this summer.
Our first family camping trip came this past weekend and I’m happy to report that minus nearly freezing to death the first night (which may be a slight exaggeration), we had a great time and I was able to snap a few pictures.
These are all pictures of some of my favorite things. I love the aspen trees, columbine flowers and of course, my girls.
